Title Last Call (Thursday, June 28) - Domaine Chabrier Fils - a Sensational White
Attachment ArthursCellar_Vol7Iss6_ Domaine_Chabrier_Fils.pdf
Bulletin Our first twenty-five case allotment of the delicious the 2005 Duché d'Uzès La Garrigue d'Aureillac white from Domaine Chabrier Fils sold out very quickly. But we have managed to secure another twenty-five cases from Patrick Chabrier. Order now - first come, first served. We will be placing the order for this wine on Thursday, June 28th, or sooner if we fill our second allotment.

Domaine Chabrier Fils is located in southern France near the lovely village of Uzès. Operated by Patrick and Christophe Chabrier (third generation Chabriers - the family has owned the estate since 1925) the ultra-modern winery has been producing its own wines since 1998. Only the top twenty percent of the grapes they grow on their sixty hectare property goes into their wines (the remainder continues to go to the local co-op and to other producers around the world). Please see the attached issue of 'Selections' for an overview of the winery and its owners.

While Patrick and Christophe make many fine wines from a wide variety of grapes, we have chosen to feature just one of them, our favourite - the 2005 Duché d'Uzès La Garrigue d'Aureillac (a real mouthful, but then so is the wine). This truly sensational wine is made from 80% Viognier and 20% Grenache Blanc (average yield of only 35 hectolitres per hectare). Half of the Viognier was fermented in new oak barrels and left on its lees for a year. The wine is pale yellow with an intense nose of anise and dried apricots. In the mouth it is full and very well balanced with a pronounced flavour of stewed apricots and a hint of pineapple. It would work well as an aperitif, go wonderfully with shellfish and, as a special treat be a divine partner with warm goat cheese. This is a great wine from a great year. It costs $17.95 per bottle; $107.70 for a case of six plus $6.00 handling for a total of $113.70. If I could have only one more bottle of white wine costing less than twenty dollars a bottle, this would be it.

Please pass this note on to others who you think might be interested.

Many thanks and cheers!
