“Sure, why not?” Hélène replied as we continued on our stroll today amid the autumn leaves. “Our vintners will have plenty of time to see us, the restaurants will be extra cosy with their big, welcoming fireplaces, air and train fares and accommodations will be at off-season rates, the weather has to be better than here and … it will be truffle season. Besides, I know a lovely, quaint old country home in Uzès (truffle festival central) that will be a perfect base from which to launch day trips to all sorts of wonderful places with marvellous restaurants such as Aix-en-Provence, Paradou, St.-Rémy-de-Provence, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Buoux and Les Baux. We could go on a truffle hunt, attend a truffle fair, visit a winery or two, go shopping … Hey, we could make it an O!France Winter Truffle Tour!”

The treasured truffle |
So, just like that the seed has been sown for an eight day, truffle-infused visit to Provence - from Saturday, January 15th to Sunday January 23rd. We are looking for eight intrepid travelers to join us for what promises to be a truly delightful, gastronomic adventure. Here are some of the preliminary details (there is lots of room for customizing the tour to match the interests of our guests):

The mysteries of the truffle market! |
|
- Our base of operations will be a lovely country home near the charming town of Uzès. I would call it rustic chic – what do you expect from a country home that dates from the fourteenth century with the modern wing being added in the eighteenth? But, it is warm, comfy and just right for the occasion.
- Daily jaunts to nearby towns and villages in a chauffeur-driven, small Mercedes coach.
- Breakfasts, informal dinners and spectacular wines from Arthur’s Cellar are included.
- A winery visit or two, a truffle market and a truffle hunt.
- Several very special lunches in the region’s most welcoming and renowned restaurants (guests pay for their lunches).
- A special wine tasting evening.
- And so much more.

The valiant truffle hound |
The per person tariff will be between $2,400 and $2,600 (not all bedrooms were created equal). The price does not include airfare and train travel – pick-up and drop-off at the Avignon TGV train station is included. We require eight guests to make this work and we need all eight confirmed by Friday, October 29th.
Please get in touch with Hélène to find out more about our impromptu truffle tour, or just call her at (905) 842-2684. We hope you can join us.
If you know someone who might be interested in a very unique and exciting visit to southern France, we would be grateful if you would pass this note on to them.
Cheers!
Jim and Hélène
