Bulletin Graham Nutter, the personable and gregarious owner of Château Saint Jacques d’Albas was in town last week to help us host three very enjoyable and successful events – wine and food pairing dinners at Bodega and Bistro 1603 and the Freemen’s Amazing Wine Tasting Evening. Many thanks to all of you who attended. Graham has left, but you can still order his outstanding wines from the Minervois:

2006 Rosé - $15.00 per bottle – 12 bottle case
The 2005 was nicely fruity, crisp and had all the right stuff a smashing Rosé should have. The fact that it won a Silver Medal at the prestigious Concours Mondial du Rosé confirmed the enthusiasm our Members had for this wine. The 2006 vintage is even better! It too is made of equal parts Syrah and Grenache. Graham reserved a few cases for us so we could get a head start on the summer that seems so far way! Place your order!

2005 “Le Domaine” - $18.00 per bottle – 12 bottle case
From the glorious 2005 vintage, this edition of “Le Domaine" is made of 20% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 40% Carignan. It has been traditionally fermented for over twenty days and the Syrah aged in barrels for more than six months. This is a very expressive, well balanced wine that is drinking well now and will keep quite happily for several years. It is an amazing bargain. Place your order!

2003 “Le Château” - $24.00 per bottle – 12 bottle case
This wine is 60% Syrah (in oak barrels for over twelve months) and 20% each of both Grenache and Carignan. Acclaimed by the British wine writer Jancis Robinson, this wine is deep ruby red with an aroma of fresh red berries, liquorice and spices. It is quite closed now, but still exhibits a fine balance of fruit and tannins with a hint of vanilla. While very pleasant to drink now, this wine will benefit from a couple of years in the cellar. Place your order!

2004 “La Chapelle” - $38.00 per bottle – 6 bottle case
The 2004 vintage has more structure and is a little less fruit forward than the 2003 version. It is a classic Minervois heavyweight, comprised of 96% Syrah (barrel-aged for 18 months) and 4% Carignan. This wine, made from old vines is drinking beautifully now and will keep for many years. Jancis Robinson consistently includes the "La Chapelle" in her list of '50 Great Value Reds'. It will amaze and delight the most discerning collector. Place your order!

Red Sampler Case - $24.00 per bottle – 12 bottle case
A special from Graham Nutter: 5 bottles of 2005 "Le Domaine", 5 bottles of 2003 "Le Château" and two bottles of 2004 "La Chapelle". This is a great way to try all of Graham's award winning red wines. Place your order!

This will be our eighth order of Château Saint Jacques d’Albas wines. We plan to take it to the LCBO on Wednesday, November 28th.

If you know anyone who would like some great Minervois wine, please pass this note on to them.

Many thanks and cheers,

Jim and Hélène
