Title “Lost” Wine from Domaine la Croix Chaptal - Extension!
Attachment
Bulletin Untitled Page
Charles and Huguette Pacaud with Hélène
Alas, the vintners we want to feature next are exhibiting at Pro Wein in Dusseldorf and are unable, until the end of the week, to supply some critical information we require in order to announce their wines. Thus we are extending the deadline for Charles Pacaud’s ‘lost’ wine for another week – there are still a few cases left. We will be taking your orders for the delightful, ready-to-drink 2006 Les Terrasses du Larzac from Domaine La Croix Chaptal to the LCBO this coming Friday, March 9th. At only $21 the bottle, this is one delicious bargain.

A Little Background
Charles Pacaud makes very good, very serious wines from the best part of the AOC Côteaux du Languedoc – the sub appellation known as Les Terrasses du Larzac. His wines regularly appear in the ‘Wine Spectator’, receiving high eighty and ninety point ratings. See our original Newsletter for more information about Charles and his winery.

Enjoy the Languedoc, from Andrew Jefford: Decanter January 2009 (pg 21)
"...Geologically, the Languedoc hills are a synopsis of everything which makes France so propitious for winegrowing... Surely in any other country, those Languedoc hills would have been a star region; their misfortune was to find themselves sharing a nation with Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Loire and the Rhône. And, too far from Paris.

But where is the best spot in the Languedoc? My theory is that Terrasses du Larzac is the greatest spot in the Languedoc... Stone and slopes alone don't make for great wine - as much of Provence proves - but when skilled winegrowers grapple intelligently and sensitively with nature here, the results seem to me to have the same aromatic, textural potential as the best of the Rhône..."

2006 was a very good year in the Languedoc. This wine comes in convenient six-bottle cases.

2006 Les Terrasses du Larzac - 13.0% Alc./Vol.                        $21 per bottle/$126 per case of six
Like all of Charles' wines, the grapes for Les Terrasses du Larzac are hand picked and hand sorted. The wine is made from 55% Grenache, 40% Carignan and the rest Syrah with yields between 35 and 40 hectolitres per hectare. It underwent a short aging period on oak. A deep ruby in colour, this is a full and fruity wine with aromas of ripe cherries, plums and mocha with a touch of exotic spice. Drinking beautifully right now (but it will keep for a couple more years), this little treasure will go well with both white and red meats. Order some of Charles’ lost wine now. You’ll be thrilled you did.

Coming next from Arthur’s Cellar

While it might be seem like a long time till those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, we need to get your orders for our thirst-quenching Rosés on their way. And, what better way to start than with what arguably could be the finest Rosés from ProvenceDomaine Gavoty? Theirs are a truly up-scale Rosés that can be found in most of the finest establishments in France like Restaurant Taillevent and Le Jules Verne La Tour Eiffel in Paris, Le Louis XV Alain Ducasse in Monaco and La Messardière in Saint Tropez. They also produce a most delightful white that we will include in the offering.

And, how about two St-Émilion Grand Cru? Who knew that one of Charles Pacaud’s twin daughters is involved with the production of two very fine St-Émilion Grand Cru? Watch for the wines from Les Vignobles Valade

Please pass this bulletin on to others you think might like to take advantage of Charles’ delicious, well-priced 2006 Les Terrasses du Larzac.

Many thanks and cheers,

Jim and Hélène
