Dear Arthur’s Cellar Wine Club Member:
A Member asked if Vignobles Mousset-Barrot had any half-bottles available. As luck would have it, the winery had processed a special order for a major client and had a few half-bottles (demis) of the 2011 Château du Bois de la Garde Côtes du Rhône left over. We have a happy Member and are delighted to be able to offer it to the rest of the membership at only $12 the bottle. This is a lovely wine from a very good year in a most convenient format. The last day to order is this coming Friday, April 24th.
2011 Château du Bois de la Garde Côtes du Rhône – Demis – 14.0% Alc./Vol. $12 bottle/$144 case of 12
This ready to drink charmer is made from 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Carignan, 5% Cinsault and small amounts of Counoise and Mourvèdre. The vines used to make this expressive Côtes du Rhône average over fifty years of age and the vineyards are just across the road from the Châteauneuf du Pape designated appellation (same soil; just situated on the wrong side of the tracks as it were). It is a medium ruby colour with fresh raspberries, leather, white pepper and just a hint of petroleum on the nose. Unoaked, it displays good balance, is medium to full bodied and has nice round soft tannins. It is quite long. This is a versatile, elegant wine that will go well with most meats and cheese. You can drink it now or keep it for the next five years or so. Order some of this easy drinking Côtes du Rhône in a half-bottle now.
