Dear Arthur’s Cellar Wine Club Member:
It has never been a bowl of cherries working with the LCBO, but over the past half year it has been the pits. Our decision to suspend wine club operations while the LCBO Private Ordering department introduced their new operating system (still uncompleted) was a good one. We did have several orders in the works and getting them cleared and delivered to our members has been an adventure we hope never to experience again.
The wine club, now in its second decade of existence, is a very serious and mostly enjoyable hobby. We love the wine country of France and the passionate artisan vignerons who craft their very special potions there. We also thoroughly enjoy making it possible for our members to sip these wonderful wines that would otherwise never see the light of day in our booze-wise archaic and myopic Province.
However, given our experiences over the past six months, Hélène and I had made the decision to cease operations. Champagne Forget-Brimont was to be our final offering.
But then two things happened. Several Members contacted us to tell us how much they enjoyed our wines and hoping that we were going to continue importing them.
And, senior management of LCBO Private Ordering recently told us that they wanted us to stay in business and vowed to do everything within their power to improve their service to us and our Members. To be fair, these folks have tried their best to help us during these most trying times – trying for them as well as for us.
