Last Call - Champagne Forget-Brimont

Bulletin
Don’t miss out on this chance to get some of the popular and very well-priced Champagne from Champagne Forget-Brimont (to find out more about the winery, see our May 2006 edition of ‘
Selections
’ or visit them at their
website
). Once again, M. Michel Forget has created a special mixed case of five different Champagnes just for our Members.
We will be placing our order with the LCBO on Wednesday, October 24th.
Please order as soon as you can to avoid disappointment and the need to instead purchase big brand name Champagne from the LCBO at much higher prices!
Champagne Forget-Brimont 1er Cru Brut - $40.95
Delicious Premier Cru champagne with Grand Cru grapes in the blend for significantly less ($10 to $25) than you would pay for regular champagne! Believe me, this is a great wine for a great price. The grape composition is 60% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. It was a silver medal winner at the International Wine Challenge in London. Click

Champagne Forget-Brimont 1er Cru Extra Brut - $43.95
This is really excellent Apéritif Champagne in a delicate and refreshing style. Comprised of 60% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, (all Premier and Grand Cru grapes!) this is a golden champagne with delightfully persistent tiny bubbles. It is very appealing with notes of brioche, lemons, pears, almonds and white flowers - beautifully fresh with a long finish. Five star rating from Decanter magazine. Click

Champagne Forget-Brimont 1er Cru Rosé Brut - $43.95
This is the Champagne for those most festive occasions. It is also an ideal apéritif. Its rosé colour comes from adding red wine from Brouzy to the Forget-Brimont reserve cuvée. The grape composition is 60% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay (Premier and Grand Cru grapes only!). In the glass, the beautiful light orange, pink colour provides an ideal backdrop for its steady stream of tiny bubbles. At least $25 cheaper than anything comparable at the LCBO it is a big hit with our Members. It is rated 91/100 by The Wine Spectator. Click

Champagne Forget-Brimont Grand Cru Grand Réserve Blanc de Blancs (Chardonnay) - $55.95
This very special wine was bottled in the spring of 2003 (a blend of the 2000, 2001 and 2002 harvests) and is made entirely from Chardonnay. It has aromas of honeysuckle and other white flowers, grapefruit and honey. It is beautifully balanced with lively bubbles and a lingering taste of citrus fruit and warm brioche. It is drinking sublimely now and will develop even more complexity if cellared for a year or two. The winery says it is perfect as an apéritif or an accompaniment for crayfish and baked oysters. We had it with a fruit flan for desert – sheer ambrosia! Click

Champagne Forget-Brimont Grand Cru Rosé - $47.95
It doesn't get any more festive or refined! This Grand Cru Rosé is made from 76% Pinot Noir and 24% Chardonnay. As one would expect from such a classy Champagne, the bubbles are tiny and explosive. It is a beautiful salmon pink colour with a nose of strawberries, apples and raspberries. In the mouth these flavours persist and are joined by notes of black and red currants. The finish is fresh and elegant. There is a perfect harmony between the richness of the Pinot Noir and the fineness of the Chardonnay. Click

Champagne Forget-Brimont Mixed Case - $45.80
Response to M. Michel Forget's mixed six-bottle case of his Champagnes last time was so positive that he has decided to offer us another - 2 bottles of 1er Cru Brut and one bottle each of 1er Cru Extra Brut, 1er Cru Rosé, Grand Cru Chardonnay and Grand Cru Rosé. This is a great way to try all his wonderful bubbly and to decide which ones you like best for your next order. It would also make a great gift for the Champagne fancier. Click

Each of these wines contains 12.0% alcohol by volume and comes in convenient six-bottle cases. While drinking very well now, each will develop additional depth and character with a year or two more in the cellar.
Know any Champagne fanciers? If you do, please pass this note on to them.
Many thanks and cheers,
Jim
