We have discovered two other wine clubs here in Ontario that we thought you would like to know about. In fact, we have so much in common with them that we have created an informal association to improve our processes, exchange industry information and deal more effectively with the LCBO.

They are VinEssence operated by David and Lynne Durward that specializes in the fine wines of Switzerland and, Woodside Wine Appreciation Club run by Ken Baker and Renée Meloche (ably assisted by Jerrold Litwinenko) that focuses on special, hand crafted wines from Argentina. These clubs function much like Arthur’s Cellar Wine Club and provide you with the exclusive opportunity to acquire wonderful, specialty wines.

Vinessence

VinEssence offers a selection of hard-to-get, quality wines from Switzerland. David personally selects each wine based on his 25 years of living and working in Switzerland and his training as a wine professional in that alpine country.  Although many people are surprised to learn that Switzerland has a wine industry, it has an honourable wine tradition dating back to the Romans and Celts, particularly in the Lac Leman region and in the Valais. See their latest newsletter for more information. We have had the pleasure of visiting with David and Lynne at their home in Port Hope where we sipped many of their splendid white and red wines. We think you will enjoy these wines too. Please get in touch with David (david@vinessence.ca) for more information and to join his club … and tell him we sent you.

Woodside Wine Appreciation Club

Woodside Wine Appreciation Club features a broad selection of artisan wines from small vintners in Argentina – not only the justifiably renowned Malbec, but many other varietals and blends as well. As David did with Switzerland and we did with France, Ken fell in love with Argentina, its people and their fine wines. He wanted to share these wines, that wouldn’t otherwise be seen in Ontario, with his friends (old and new) back home. We had a chance to try many of them at the recent Toronto Wine and Cheese show … they are very, very good! Here is a sample of one of Ken’s blogs. We suggest you get in touch with Ken (ken@spectrumwines.ca) for any questions you might have and to join the Woodside Wine Appreciation Club. Tell him that Jim and Hélène sent you!

Happy experimenting!

Cheers,

Jim and Hélène
